Transmission Line Engineer
Location: Various (Philadelphia, Denver, Kansas City, Minneapolis)
About the Role
Our client is seeking a motivated Transmission Line Engineer with 2+ years of experience to join their growing Power Delivery team. This role involves supporting the design and analysis of high-voltage transmission line projects (69 kV–500 kV) across the US. You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, structural and electrical engineers, and utility clients to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective transmission solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Perform detailed design and analysis of overhead transmission lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and related software tools.

Develop plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation design inputs.

Conduct route evaluations, line optimization, and material takeoffs.

Prepare design documentation, specifications, and construction packages in compliance with NESC, ASCE, and client standards.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (substation, civil, environmental, and survey) to ensure seamless project execution.

Support senior engineers with design reviews, quality checks, and project scheduling.

Participate in field assessments, site visits, and constructability reviews as required.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering (EIT preferred; PE a plus).

Minimum 2 years of experience in transmission line design for utilities, EPCs, or consulting firms.

Proficiency in PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Familiarity with NESC, ASCE 10, and related design standards.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities.

Self-motivated and collaborative, with a strong attention to detail.
Preferred Experience

Exposure to design of 69 kV–500 kV overhead lines.

Experience working with EPC delivery models or utility clients.

Knowledge of geotechnical inputs, survey data, and foundation design principles.
