A well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking a Traffic Project Engineer to support transportation projects throughout Pennsylvania. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and technically challenging environment.
The ideal candidate is a motivated team player who thrives in collaborative settings and can independently lead traffic engineering tasks involving complex features, either through direct execution or by supervising technical staff. Familiarity with PennDOT, PA Turnpike, and MUTCD design requirements is required. Experience with municipal and county agencies within Pennsylvania is a plus.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the preparation and quality review of:

Traffic studies and technical reports
-
Design plans and calculations
-
Specifications and construction cost estimates
-

Perform traffic modeling and operational analysis using tools such as Highway Capacity Software, Synchro/SimTraffic, or similar platforms
-
Develop traffic signal designs, signing and pavement marking plans
-
Prepare Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) / Traffic Control plans

Serve as Task Manager on small to mid-sized projects

Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field

12+ years of progressive traffic engineering experience
-
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required (Pennsylvania or reciprocity eligible)

PTOE certification preferred

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Strong written and verbal communication skills

MicroStation proficiency required; OpenRoads Designer experience preferred

Valid driver’s license
