Electrical Systems Subject Matter Expert – Mission Critical Infrastructure
About the Opportunity
A leading owner and operator of complex, high-availability infrastructure is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Subject Matter Expert to provide technical leadership across a large-scale critical facility operating in a 24/7 environment.
This position serves as the electrical authority, responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of critical power systems while supporting continuous uptime. Working alongside multidisciplinary operations teams, the successful candidate will provide technical guidance during switching activities, troubleshooting, restoration events, commissioning efforts, and maintenance operations.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical authority for electrical distribution systems and critical power infrastructure.
- Provide guidance during switching, energization, and restoration activities while ensuring adherence to established procedures.
- Monitor system performance, identify abnormalities, and direct corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and support incident response activities.
- Participate in root cause investigations and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support commissioning, startup, and acceptance testing activities.
- Develop and improve operating procedures, switching plans, and Lockout/Tagout processes.
- Mentor operations and maintenance personnel on electrical systems and safe work practices.
- Support operator qualification programs and technical skills development.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and promote a culture of procedural discipline and accountability.
- Maintain accurate operational documentation and communicate equipment status across shifts and teams.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of eight years of experience supporting medium- and low-voltage electrical systems within mission critical, industrial, power generation, or similarly complex environments.
- Strong understanding of switchgear, UPS systems, generators, protective relays, and electrical distribution systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control drawings.
- Experience supporting live, uptime-sensitive facilities where reliability and safety are paramount.
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to mentor technicians and operators while maintaining high standards of safety and operational excellence.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to perform effectively in high-pressure operational environments.
