Overview
An established Architecture and Engineering firm is looking to add a Project Mechanical Engineer to support a growing pipeline of commercial, municipal, and industrial projects. The Role
You will take ownership of mechanical design across the full project lifecycle, from early concept through construction administration. This is a hands-on role requiring both strong technical execution and the ability to lead coordination efforts internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities
- Design HVAC systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, and exhaust
- Design plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, and storm systems
- Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layout for ductwork and piping
- Develop construction documents including drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules
- Select mechanical equipment such as air handling units, RTUs, boilers, chillers, heat pumps, and related systems
- Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with applicable building and energy codes
- Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and utility providers throughout project delivery
- Support permitting efforts and interface with local authorities and building departments
- Participate in site visits, construction meetings, and review of shop drawings
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, providing technical oversight and quality control
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in mechanical design
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Strong experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, municipal, or industrial projects
- Ability to independently manage design efforts and drive projects forward
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards including IMC, IPC, IBC, ASHRAE, and energy codes
- Experience producing construction documents and coordinating across disciplines
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
