Director of Solution Engineering
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced engineering leader to build and develop a high-performing customer-facing solutions team supporting complex electrical infrastructure projects. This position sits at the intersection of engineering, sales, and operations, ensuring customer requirements are translated into commercially viable, technically sound, and scalable solutions.
The successful candidate will provide leadership across the pre-sales engineering function, driving technical excellence, improving responsiveness, and developing standardized processes that enable continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and Develop the Solutions Engineering Team
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of customer-facing solution engineers.
- Support technical development and career progression within the team.
- Align resources and priorities to support business growth and customer demands.
Drive Technical Sales Execution
- Oversee the development of proposals, system architectures, and preliminary designs for complex electrical equipment projects.
- Ensure solutions meet customer requirements while remaining manufacturable and commercially competitive.
- Support pursuit strategy and key opportunities throughout the sales cycle.
Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams.
- Ensure proposed solutions align with manufacturing capabilities, delivery requirements, and commercial objectives.
- Act as a bridge between technical and business stakeholders.
Standardize Processes and Improve Efficiency
- Implement engineering tools, templates, and best practices to improve speed, consistency, and quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the solutions organization.
- Enhance scalability through standardization and digital technologies.
Customer Engagement and Technical Leadership
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor for strategic customers and critical pursuits.
- Provide executive-level support during complex technical discussions.
- Build long-term customer relationships and strengthen confidence throughout the pre-sales process.
Resource Planning and Performance Management
- Manage team capacity and workload to meet quote cycle expectations.
- Establish priorities and allocate resources effectively.
- Monitor performance metrics and support continuous development across the organization.
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
- Strong background within electrical power systems, power distribution equipment, or related industrial manufacturing environments.
- Previous leadership experience within Solution Engineering, Applications Engineering, Technical Sales, or similar customer-facing engineering functions.
- Proven ability to lead teams supporting complex engineered products and solutions.
- Experience working within fast-paced, sales-driven organizations.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance technical excellence with business objectives.

Compensation
Competitive base salary ranging from $220,000 - $270,000
