Senior Construction Project Manager

 

Our client, a leading owner and developer of mission-critical data centers, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee the development and construction of large-scale data center projects. This role is responsible for managing projects from planning through commissioning, with a strong emphasis on heavy MEP systems, budget management, contractor coordination, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of mission-critical data center construction projects from inception through completion.
  • Support planning, permitting, and utility coordination efforts.
  • Develop and issue RFPs in collaboration with Procurement for General Contractors and key project partners.
  • Negotiate contracts with General Contractors, Commissioning Agents, subcontractors, and third-party consultants.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasting, cost control, and capital expenditure reporting.
  • Coordinate Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and drive project milestones.
  • Oversee technical, contractual, procurement, and documentation requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project schedules, safety, quality, and overall execution.
  • Lead pre-construction, commissioning, and project closeout activities while coordinating engineers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Prepare and present regular project status updates to executive leadership.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement efforts during construction.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience managing mission-critical or data center construction projects.
  • Strong background in heavy MEP systems and large-scale commercial construction.
  • Experience leading General Contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Proven success managing budgets, forecasting, cost control, and contract negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, quality control, and construction safety.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Procore, and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working for a data center owner, developer, owner's representative, or leading General Contractor.
  • Experience delivering multi-megawatt mission-critical facilities.
  • Knowledge of commissioning and turnover processes.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent construction projects.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
