Mechanical Engineer
The Mechanical Engineer I will support the design and development of engineered electrical equipment and related assemblies within a manufacturing environment.
This is an early-career engineering role focused on 3D modeling, detailed drawing creation, bill of materials development and production support. The position offers the opportunity to build practical experience across mechanical design, manufacturing and product development while working closely with engineering and production teams.
Responsibilities
• Create 3D part and assembly models using SolidWorks
• Produce and revise detailed engineering drawings for fabrication and production
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials for assigned projects
• Process engineering changes and ensure design documentation remains accurate and current
• Maintain compliance with internal drafting and engineering standards
• Review drawings for completeness, accuracy and manufacturability
• Support resolution of design and assembly issues identified during production
• Maintain organized engineering files, drawings and supporting documentation
• Assist with prototype development and initial production builds
• Coordinate design activities with engineering, production and other internal teams
• Communicate design intent, project status and technical information clearly
• Develop knowledge of internal engineering processes, tools and documentation systems
• Support design and process improvement activities as experience develops
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 0 to 3 years of relevant mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering experience
• Experience using CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
• Understanding of part modeling, assemblies and engineering drawing creation
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials and design-for-manufacturability principles
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical documentation
• Ability to manage multiple assignments with appropriate supervision
• Good communication skills when working with engineering and production teams
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Equivalent practical experience may be considered in place of formal education where appropriate.
Preferred Experience
• Exposure to electro-mechanical equipment or electrical distribution products
• Basic knowledge of sheet metal design
• Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and drafting practices
• Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment
• Ability to incorporate feedback from production, suppliers and other engineering teams into design updates
• Interest in continuous improvement and developing stronger mechanical design capability
