Position Overview:

We are in search of a driven individual to join our team as a Market Sector Lead for our Public and Institutional (P+I) market sector. In this role, you will play a key role in driving our team's success in the Midwest Region. Our team in the Minneapolis studio is at the forefront of regional projects and contributes significantly to national initiatives.

As a principal-level position, the Market Sector Lead will be responsible for leading team and market strategy efforts. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a design-oriented individual with entrepreneurial drive to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Team & Project Leadership:

  • Collaborate with team members to provide innovative insights into projects, studio operations, and market delivery.
  • Champion diversity and inclusion efforts, ensuring all voices are respected and fostering resilient solutions that enhance communities.
  • Advocate for clients and fulfill other client support and relationship responsibilities.
  • Oversee the development of a team of direct reports, providing supervision, coaching, and growth planning.
  • Provide project leadership and oversight, ensuring quality, efficient delivery, profitability, and innovative design.
  • Support Project Management in monitoring project performance, technical quality, and participating in contract negotiations.

Business Development:

  • Establish annual business goals, strategies, and tactics aligned with national business plans.
  • Collaborate with Business Development staff to nurture client relationships, generate new business, and secure clients.
  • Establish thought leadership within the market, engaging with clients through industry events, writing, and speaking engagements.
  • Develop and position the firm to respond to RFPs and solicitations, including forming strategic partnerships and leading responses.


  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Architecture and/or Interior Design.
  • Professional registration required.
  • At least 8 years of experience in design and leadership roles.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to coordinate action across geographic locations.
  • Extensive knowledge of fee proposals, negotiations, and contract/subcontract administration.
  • Capacity to plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work effectively.
  • Effective time management, organizational skills, and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications / Skillsets:

  • Active participation in organizations supporting marketing efforts in the Public & Institutional sector.
  • Strong project portfolio and subject matter expertise in various sectors.
  • Excellent client management, customer service orientation, writing, and presentation skills.
