Neil Armstrong will be forever known as the first man on the moon. Pelé was the first player to score 1000 competition goals. These achievements stand out because people remember who did it first.
While we're not sending you to the moon or to an international football tournament, being first can also work wonders for your career. As one of the first major hires for this client here in the UK, you'll be in pole position to achieve great prestige as their Director of Construction and Project Management.
Your main customer will be a well-known eCommerce giant, plus others who work in this world. Bucking the trend, this past year has actually catapulted their growth even further. You'll have a say over the entire construction and project management process, coordinating pre-bid, design and planning, appointing and managing consultants throughout construction. Much of your attention will be placed on preconstruction, as junior PMs will manage day-to-day works and escalate issues into you.
You'll be working with diverse teams across Europe, so a collaborative nature is key. Your work here will mirror what's being created on the continent. You'll be experienced in leading land development and construction projects in the UK, with in-depth knowledge of the technical requirements and input necessary during pursuits, design and permitting phases and for construction/delivery.
As a strong and capable leader, you'll relate well to investors and customers, local authorities and community stakeholders, external project team members, as well as your own team. Industrial logistics experience is a major plus, but we'll consider other similar backgrounds such as those that involve overseeing the creation of data centres and major retail units. We're not asking you to have a crystal ball, but you'll know how to anticipate and plan for foreseeable eventualities, to manage risk and handle changes in circumstances proactively and positively.
You'll come from a technical background - Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Project Management. With experience in land development, environmental strategies, technical due diligence, and regional market conditions and practices - you'll handle development cost appraisals, project budgeting, and investment support. To keep the workforce on side to deliver these projects, you'll be knowledgeable when it comes to contract negotiations, forms of appointment, and dispute resolution.
This is a best of both worlds position, you'll have the security that comes with working for one of the biggest players in the industry, while appreciating the "startup" feel of this particular arm of the business. You'll be given principals, business plans, and pipeline of delivery on day one, while your skill and experience will be key to their goal of becoming the biggest developer in Europe.
You'll get a salary around 105k, negotiable for the right person, plus a car allowance. You'll work remotely, covering the whole of the UK There's also a bonus, circa 25%, guaranteed at the start because everything here is new.
This is a significant growth opportunity for the right person, if you're currently second in command and looking for that next step, this could be for you. You'll have the opportunity to truly make this role your own, achieving significant wins along the way.
