Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

A senior-level opportunity is available for an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex industrial control systems projects. This role focuses on full lifecycle I&C design, technical leadership and project oversight across medium to large-scale treatment and process facilities.

You will work closely with project managers and clients to define scope, develop control strategies and lead multidisciplinary design teams. The position requires deep expertise in PLC and SCADA systems, industrial communication networks and field instrumentation, along with the ability to manage budgets, schedules and technical quality.

 

Key responsibilities:

• Lead I&C design teams on medium to large-scale projects
• Develop scopes of work, project budgets and schedules for instrumentation systems
• Design PLC and SCADA architectures and industrial communication networks
• Specify fiber optic networks and related industrial components
• Develop P&IDs, control schematics, control panel layouts and I/O lists
• Select and specify instrumentation and prepare ISA data sheets
• Prepare equipment and system specifications for PLCs, networking equipment and control hardware
• Develop preliminary and final construction cost estimates
• Review contractor submittals and conduct quality reviews
• Support client workshops related to instrumentation standards and HMI development
• Design radio telemetry and remote SCADA systems using various communication technologies
• Manage and mentor engineers and technical staff
• Conduct site visits during construction and commissioning
• Monitor scope, schedule and budget performance

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
• 10 to 15 years of experience designing industrial instrumentation and control systems
• Professional Engineer registration required
• Strong expertise in industrial communication networks and control system architecture
• Advanced ability to read and develop P&IDs and control schematics
• Experience managing medium to large I&C projects
• Strong technical writing and client communication skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound engineering decisions
• Proficiency with standard engineering and office software

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline
• Experience with design platforms such as MicroStation or AutoCAD
