About the Role

A globally recognized engineering and design consultancy is seeking an experienced Data Center Leader to lead the growth and delivery of its mission-critical and data center practice in Houston, Texas. This leadership role is ideal for an accomplished electrical engineering professional with deep expertise in data center design, multidisciplinary project leadership, and client development.

The successful candidate will oversee complex mission-critical projects, serve as a technical leader and Engineer of Record, mentor engineering teams, and play a key role in expanding the firm's data center portfolio throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of complex data center and mission-critical projects from planning through construction
  • Serve as Engineer of Record and perform quality control reviews on large-scale electrical engineering projects
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams, including internal staff, consultants, and external stakeholders
  • Develop project schedules, staffing plans, budgets, and risk management strategies
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development initiatives
  • Lead technical discussions and provide subject matter expertise on electrical engineering for data centers
  • Support proposal development, client presentations, and strategic pursuits for new business opportunities
  • Mentor and train engineering staff while fostering technical excellence and professional growth
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences and technical events to strengthen market presence
  • Collaborate with regional leadership to expand the mission-critical and data center practice across the Americas

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas required
  • 15+ years of experience delivering engineering design and consulting services for mission-critical facilities, including data centers
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on complex building and infrastructure projects
  • 5+ years of experience serving as project manager and primary client contact for large-scale engineering projects
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems for mission-critical facilities and data center infrastructure
  • Demonstrated success in business development, client relationship management, and technical leadership
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel as needed and collaborate with regional and global teams

Technical Skills

  • Advanced expertise in electrical engineering design for data centers and mission-critical facilities
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution, redundancy, resiliency, and mission-critical infrastructure
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and consulting teams
  • Expertise in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, quality assurance, and risk management
  • Strong understanding of industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices
  • Experience serving as Engineer of Record and leading QA/QC processes on large-scale projects
