Engineer (Mechanical) (NON-EXEMPT)

Reports to: Board of Directors, Principal, or Market Sector Leader

Responsibilities:

  • As a fully competent Registered Professional Engineer, performs work involving the application of all conventional aspects of engineering to the functional area of the assignment. Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Conceptualizes the initial design approach for major phases of large facilities type projects, or has overall responsibility for the engineering work. Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates engineering work.
  • Supervises the design and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with City, State, and County officials, and other outside agencies. Resolves a variety of complex problems, (i.e., conflicting design requirements, difficult coordination requirements).
  • Serves as a liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.
  • Reviews plans and prepares or reviews technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Participates in bidding and construction administration; observes project action on site.
  • Supervises the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSME, BSEE, or BSAE required.
  • PE License.
  • Five to nine years of progressive experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Designer (Mechanical) (NON-EXEMPT)

Reports to: Principal or Market Sector Leader

Responsibilities:

  • Under close and frequent supervision, assists engineers by performing the routine aspects of engineering assignments, subsequently providing familiarity with the programs, staff, and operating procedures of the company.
  • Performs design calculations, sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment.
  • Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians in his/ her discipline group. Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommends necessary changes.
  • Researches code issues and works with city, state, and county officials. Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.
  • Assists with other duties assigned by Engineers and/or Project Managers. May attend “kick-off” and design review meetings, and interacts with clients as his or her level of experience progresses.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSME/BSEE/BSAE from ABET accredited school preferred but not required.
  • EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) preferred but not required.
