This client is a recognized professional services design firm providing civil engineering, water resources engineering, landscape architecture, sports and recreation, land planning, surveying and mapping, and physical site security design to a broad spectrum of market sectors and clients. These projects range from once-in-a-lifetime, mixed-use developments of enormous scale to smaller initiatives that offer strong growth opportunities for engineers.

The Water Resources Team within this client provides services including stormwater management design, floodplain analysis and permitting, dam breach analysis, municipal storm system permitting, stormwater inspections, and long-term maintenance planning.
They are currently seeking a Water Resources Project Manager for their team in Northern Virginia.

The role includes managing stormwater design, construction, and maintenance efforts across a diverse portfolio. Projects often implement sustainable solutions including bioretention systems, green infrastructure, permeable paving, stormwater basins, proprietary filtration units, and subsurface detention facilities. Additional responsibilities include managing regulatory permitting for floodplains and dams, performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, and contributing to emergency preparedness efforts.

The position includes team leadership responsibilities - mentoring junior engineers and directly supervising at least one team member. It offers excellent professional growth in a culture that values collaboration and excellence.


What you'll be doing:

* Design a full range of stormwater infrastructure
* Oversee field inspections and related construction administration
* Build stormwater maintenance programs for large-scale facility owners
* Model and evaluate floodplains under local and federal scenarios; design large culverts and crossings
* Conduct dam permitting, breach modeling, annual inspections, emergency planning, and regulatory reporting
* Supervise at least one direct report and mentor junior team members


What we're looking for:

* 5+ years of relevant experience
* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
* Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
* Autocad proficiency
* Hydrology and hydraulics modeling experience (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8)
* Licensed PE or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months
* Experience guiding or training junior staff
