We're excited to share a special episode of the Harper Harrison Podcast, Raising Expectations.
In recognition of Tourette's Awareness Month, Del Connolly is joined by his son, Harrison Connolly, for an honest and personal conversation about living with Tourette syndrome, challenging misconceptions, and helping others understand that they are not alone.
While many people associate Tourette's with the most widely recognised symptoms, such as involuntary swearing, the reality is that Tourette's affects everyone differently. Through this conversation, Harrison shares his own experiences of growing up with Tourette's, the support he has received from family, friends and school, and why greater understanding can make a real difference.
Living with Tourette's: Harrison's Story
Diagnosed in 2017, Tourette's has been part of Harrison's life from a young age. Like many people with the condition, his symptoms have changed over time, sometimes becoming more noticeable and at other times settling down.
In this episode, Harrison speaks openly about what Tourette's means to him, offers advice for other young people who may recently have been diagnosed, and shares a simple but powerful message: you don't need to hide who you are.
Away from raising awareness, Harrison is a keen footballer, talented guitarist and budding musician. Most recently, he even performed a solo rendition of Wonderwall, complete with guitar and vocals, at a family wedding.
This episode is about more than Tourette's. It's about resilience, confidence, understanding, and giving a platform to conversations that help people learn from one another.
We hope you enjoy the conversation.
