Senior Industrial Water Process Engineer

We are seeking a forward-thinking Senior Water Process Engineer with a strong background in industrial water and wastewater treatment and a passion for emerging water technologies. In this fully remote role, you will design, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge process solutions for industrial clients across sectors such as manufacturing, energy, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the process engineering design for advanced industrial water and wastewater treatment systems.

  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies including membrane processes, zero-liquid discharge (ZLD), resource recovery, advanced oxidation, and smart water systems.

  • Translate client requirements and raw water characteristics into scalable process solutions.

  • Develop detailed engineering deliverables including process flow diagrams (PFDs), mass balances, equipment specs, and P&IDs.

  • Provide technical leadership throughout project phases-from pre-sales assessments and pilot studies to commissioning and optimization.

  • Collaborate with R&D, sales engineers, and external partners to evaluate and integrate innovative technologies and vendor solutions.

  • Conduct techno-economic evaluations and lifecycle analyses to support client decision-making.

  • Prepare and seal engineering reports, proposals, and submittals in compliance with applicable regulatory and industry standards.

  • Provide mentorship and knowledge-sharing to junior engineers and cross-functional team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial water/wastewater process engineering.

  • Active U.S. Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing.

  • Strong working knowledge of industrial treatment technologies, such as:

    • Membrane filtration (RO, UF, NF)

    • Ion exchange, demineralization, or EDI

    • Biological treatment (MBR, aerobic/anaerobic digestion)

    • Thermal or evaporative systems

  • Experience with water reuse, brine management, or ZLD systems.

  • Proficiency in modeling tools and engineering software (e.g., WaterCAD, Aspen, BioWin, or custom tools).

  • Ability to manage remote client communication, presentations, and project execution independently.

  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
