As part of that we have taken on a Senior Industrial Water Applications Engineer Position who will be responsible for leading the development, design, and optimization of advanced water treatment solutions for industrial clients. This role combines technical leadership, client consultation, and project execution. The engineer is a key technical advisor, driving innovation in water reuse, wastewater treatment, and process water optimization across diverse industrial sectors.
Responsibilities:
Lead the technical design and specification of complex water and wastewater treatment systems, including membrane filtration, ion exchange, chemical dosing, clarification, and disinfection.
Serve as the technical liaison between clients, sales teams, engineering, and operations throughout the project lifecycle.
Evaluate and interpret water quality data and operational parameters to develop or optimize treatment solutions.
Oversee the preparation of technical proposals, PFDs, P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, and equipment selections.
Guide junior engineers and review engineering deliverables for accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Support pilot studies, system commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (EPA, local authorities) and industry standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI).
Collaborate with R&D and product teams to implement innovative water technologies and digital monitoring tools.
Participate in strategic planning for water-related projects, including CAPEX/OPEX estimates, risk assessments, and life-cycle analyses.
Contribute to client training and presentations, industry conferences, and internal technical knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
7-10+ years of experience in industrial water treatment, process engineering, or water systems design.
Proven expertise in the design, integration, and optimization of water treatment technologies across sectors such as power generation, oil & gas, food & beverage, mining, and manufacturing.
Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD, WaterCAD, HYSYS, Aspen, and water chemistry modeling tools.
Strong understanding of industrial water chemistry and key unit operations (e.g., coagulation, filtration, membrane processes).
Skilled in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or eligibility to obtain one.
Familiarity with digital water technologies, including SCADA systems, smart sensors, and data-driven monitoring.
Experience with sustainability and water reuse strategies, such as zero liquid discharge and energy recovery systems.
Knowledge of global regulatory frameworks, including ISO 14001 and the EU Water Framework Directive.
Proficient in advanced data analysis or modeling, using tools such as Python, MATLAB, or Excel VBA
