Principal - Healthcare Architecture

A leading national architecture firm specializing exclusively in healthcare and life sciences design is seeking a Principal to join its growing Boston studio.
This is a strategic leadership role for a seasoned architect with a strong background in healthcare environments, deep client relationships, and the drive to lead both project and practice growth. The Boston team is looking for a forward-thinking leader who is equally comfortable with client-facing responsibilities and internal team development-someone who can blend strategic vision with hands-on project expertise.
What You'll Do:
Lead new business efforts across the Northeast, guiding proposals, interviews, and client strategy
Serve as a trusted advisor to health systems and providers, overseeing major projects from planning through delivery
Mentor project teams and foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability
Guide studio operations related to staffing, financial oversight, and project performance
Represent the firm in public settings, regulatory reviews, and industry engagements
Partner with other senior leaders on national initiatives and cross-office collaboration
What We're Looking For:
Licensed architect strongly preferred
7+ years of experience with a proven track record in healthcare architecture
Comfortable managing high-profile projects, complex stakeholder groups, and multi-phase delivery
Skilled in client development and long-term relationship building
Strong working knowledge of healthcare regulations, building codes, and facility operations
Experience with public speaking, interviews, and community engagement
A natural mentor who brings clarity, vision, and leadership to teams
