Senior Project Architect - Healthcare

A nationally recognized architecture firm with a strong focus on healthcare design is seeking a Senior Project Architect to join its Jacksonville, FL office. This role is ideal for an experienced architect with deep expertise in healthcare projects, strong technical proficiency, and a passion for leading design teams through all project phases. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of creative vision, technical rigor, and team leadership to support the firm's mission of delivering innovative, sustainable healthcare environments.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Jacksonville, FL- ideal for a motivated and experienced architect seeking to make a meaningful impact in healthcare design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all phases of the architectural design process, ensuring high-quality outcomes and alignment with project goals.
- Collaborate closely with project managers to direct the production of schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
- Coordinate construction plans, technical details, and project documentation to maintain consistency and quality control.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and construction documents for accuracy and conformance with design intent.
- Conduct agency review analyses (including accessibility, zoning, and life safety codes).
- Stay current on emerging building technologies and engineering systems relevant to healthcare facilities.
- Review team deliverables for clarity, completeness, and compliance with project and firm standards.
- Participate in developing work plans, schedules, and task assignments alongside project managers.
- Facilitate and document project meetings, contributing to effective communication across teams and stakeholders.
- Assist with marketing efforts, including proposal development and interview preparation.
- Lead internal design reviews, charrettes, and pin-ups to foster design excellence.
- Mentor junior staff, provide oversight, and support their professional development.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal team members to deliver well-coordinated solutions.
Qualifications:
- Professional degree in Architecture or a related discipline.
- Licensed Architect (required).
- 10+ years of experience, with a strong focus on healthcare architecture.
- Proficient in Revit; additional experience with 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, engineering systems, and technical documentation processes.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing design, documentation, and construction administration phases.
- Familiarity with project management practices and workflow coordination.
- LEED AP accreditation or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, professional demeanor.
- Strong passion for developing client relationships and contributing to the firm's healthcare practice.
