Senior Medical Planner - Healthcare

An established architecture and design firm is seeking a Senior Medical Planner to join its healthcare practice in Atlanta. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in healthcare environments, particularly inpatient and diagnostic/treatment departments. The successful candidate will lead planning and design efforts while ensuring design excellence and alignment with client goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to all stages of the healthcare facility design process, from programming through design development to ensure quality, performance, and client satisfaction.
- Apply medical planning expertise across a wide range of healthcare project types, including inpatient and diagnostic/treatment departments, as well as logistics functions.
- Develop architectural programming in collaboration with the client to define project goals, needs, and objectives.
- Participate in master planning efforts and prepare alternate design solutions based on long-range planning.
- Produce room and departmental layouts and contribute to building systems selection.
- Maintain active involvement during the construction document phase, ensuring FGI code compliance and quality standards.
- Conduct site evaluations and facilitate data collection through interviews, surveys, focus groups, and post-occupancy evaluations.
- Participate in project interviews and proposal efforts as part of business development.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical and strategic leadership within interdisciplinary project teams.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal design teams.
Qualifications:
- 10-15+ years of experience in healthcare architecture required.
- Professional degree in Architecture or a related discipline.
- Architectural licensure preferred.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare codes, guidelines, and functional design (including FGI and life safety codes).
- LEED GA accreditation or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Proficiency in Revit and BIM360 required; experience with SketchUp, Rhino, or other 3D visualization tools a plus.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Competence in site analysis, preliminary design studies, and QA/QC review processes.
