Medical Planner

Nashville, TN

A nationally recognized architecture and design firm is seeking a Medical Planner to join its growing Healthcare practice in Nashville.

This is an opportunity to become part of a highly respected healthcare team that is delivering complex projects for major health systems across the country. The role offers the chance to work closely with healthcare providers, clinical stakeholders, architects, and project teams to shape environments that improve patient care, staff efficiency, and overall healthcare delivery.

The firm has built a strong reputation within healthcare architecture and continues to expand its presence across the Southeast and nationally. As a result, they are seeking a Medical Planner who is passionate about healthcare design and enjoys bridging the gap between clinical operations and the built environment.

About the Role

Medical Planners play a critical role in helping healthcare organizations translate operational goals into functional, efficient, and patient-centered environments.

This position will be involved in the planning and programming of a wide variety of healthcare project types, including hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, specialty clinics, imaging centers, surgical environments, and other complex healthcare settings.

The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating directly with users, understanding clinical workflows, and developing planning solutions that improve the way healthcare is delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Lead healthcare programming, planning, and space planning efforts across a variety of project types.

  • Facilitate user group meetings and stakeholder workshops.

  • Analyze clinical operations, patient flow, staff workflows, and departmental adjacencies.

  • Develop functional programs, planning concepts, and space requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with architects, designers, engineers, and healthcare clients.

  • Support project pursuits, presentations, and healthcare planning initiatives.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the planning and design process.

  • Stay current on healthcare trends, regulations, and best practices impacting healthcare environments.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in medical planning, healthcare planning, healthcare architecture, healthcare operations, clinical planning, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and operational requirements.

  • Ability to facilitate discussions with clinical users and leadership teams.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Experience working on hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, or other healthcare environments preferred.

  • Backgrounds from architecture, healthcare planning, nursing, healthcare operations, interior design, or related disciplines will be considered.

Why This Opportunity?

Healthcare planning sits at the intersection of design, strategy, and clinical operations. Few roles offer the same level of influence on how healthcare environments function before design even begins.

This opportunity provides exposure to nationally significant healthcare projects, direct collaboration with healthcare leaders and providers, and the ability to help shape environments that impact thousands of patients, caregivers, and communities.

The firm offers a collaborative culture, strong project pipeline, and a team of experienced healthcare professionals who are passionate about creating better healthcare environments through thoughtful planning and design.

For someone who enjoys solving complex challenges, engaging directly with end users, and influencing healthcare projects from the earliest stages, this represents an outstanding opportunity to grow within a highly respected healthcare practice.
