Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to serve as a technical authority across large-scale hyperscale data center developments.
This individual will play a critical role in reviewing, challenging, and optimizing mechanical designs while helping drive technical decisions throughout the project lifecycle. The position will work closely with consultants, design partners, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, reliably, and in alignment with industry best practices.
This is an opportunity for a highly technical mechanical engineering professional to influence major data center developments from the owner's side and help establish engineering standards across a rapidly growing portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering leadership across hyperscale data center developments
- Review and evaluate consultant-generated mechanical designs and engineering deliverables
- Identify design risks, constructability concerns, and opportunities for optimization
- Support technical decision-making during planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover phases
- Collaborate with development, construction, and operations stakeholders to drive project objectives
- Help establish and improve mechanical design standards across multiple campuses
- Participate in value engineering exercises and technical design reviews
- Serve as a subject matter expert for HVAC systems, cooling infrastructure, and data center thermal management strategies
- Support project teams in resolving complex technical challenges
- Contribute to long-term campus planning and future development strategies
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong experience supporting mission critical or data center projects
- Deep understanding of hyperscale data center mechanical systems
- Experience reviewing and evaluating engineering consultant designs
- Knowledge of mechanical infrastructure including:
- Chilled water systems
- Direct expansion (DX) systems
- Air-cooled and liquid cooling systems
- CRAH/CRAC units
- Cooling distribution strategies
- Thermal load management
- Experience working through multiple phases of design development and project delivery
- Ability to communicate effectively with consultants, contractors, and executive stakeholders
Preferred
- Experience supporting large campus-scale data center developments
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience developing engineering standards and technical governance processes
- Background working in mission critical or data center environments
Career Growth
Initially, this position will focus on supporting the delivery of a large hyperscale data center campus.
Over time, the role will evolve into a broader technical leadership position supporting multiple developments, influencing future campus standards, and helping shape long-term mechanical design strategy across the portfolio.
