Senior Project Architect - Phoenix Phoenix, Arizona, United States
Senior Project Architect
Healthcare Architecture
Hybrid | Phoenix, AZ
A nationally recognized architecture and design firm is seeking a Senior Project Architect to join its growing Healthcare practice in Phoenix.
What makes this opportunity unique is that healthcare experience is not required.
The firm is specifically interested in speaking with strong architects who have delivered complex, technically demanding projects and are interested in transitioning into healthcare. Whether your background is in government, civic, higher education, justice, science and technology, aviation, institutional, or other sophisticated project types, the team believes great architects can successfully learn healthcare when given the right mentorship and project exposure.
About the Role
Healthcare architecture is one of the most technically complex and resilient sectors in the industry. Projects require architects to navigate intricate building systems, regulatory requirements, operational workflows, and stakeholder coordination while creating environments that directly impact patient care and community well-being.
The firm has built a highly respected healthcare practice and is looking for a technically strong architect who wants to deepen their expertise, take ownership of project delivery, and grow within the healthcare sector long term.
Responsibilities
*
Lead technical project delivery from design development through construction administration.
*
Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams throughout all project phases.
*
Develop and oversee construction documentation and technical quality control efforts.
*
Work closely with project managers, clients, consultants, and internal design teams.
*
Participate in project planning, coordination meetings, and client presentations.
*
Support construction administration and resolve technical challenges during project execution.
*
Mentor junior staff and contribute to the growth of project teams.
What We're Looking For
*
8+ years of architectural experience.
*
Licensed Architect preferred.
*
Strong technical expertise and construction documentation experience.
*
Proven ability to coordinate consultants and lead complex projects.
*
Revit proficiency.
*
Experience delivering sophisticated project types outside of multifamily and residential work.
*
Interest in building a long-term career within healthcare architecture.
Why This Opportunity?
Many healthcare firms require candidates to already have years of healthcare experience. This firm takes a different approach.
They recognize that some of the strongest healthcare architects come from other complex sectors and have built a culture focused on mentorship, technical excellence, and long-term professional development. The team is willing to invest in talented architects who bring strong project delivery skills and a desire to learn.
For architects who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and working on projects that have a meaningful impact on communities, this represents an opportunity to build expertise within one of the most stable and rewarding sectors in architecture.
This role is ideal for a Senior Architect or Senior Project Architect who has established themselves as a strong technical leader and is looking to apply those skills to larger, more complex projects while developing a highly valuable healthcare specialization.
Historic Preservation Senior Architect / Historic Preservation Lead Baltimore, Maryland, United States
Historic Preservation Senior Architect / Historic Preservation Lead
Hybrid | Baltimore, MD
A nationally recognized architecture and design firm is seeking a senior Historic Preservation professional to join an established and highly respected preservation practice with a clear pathway toward future practice leadership.
For more than four decades, Historic Preservation has been a cornerstone of the firm's work, with projects spanning landmark restorations, adaptive reuse initiatives, preservation planning, campus heritage projects, and historically significant civic, cultural, and institutional buildings. Following the retirement of the longtime leader who built and guided the practice, the firm is seeking the next generation of leadership to help carry that legacy forward.
This is not a replacement in the traditional sense. Rather, the firm is looking for a talented preservation architect who is eager to step into a larger leadership role over time, working closely with senior leadership while gradually assuming greater responsibility for practice growth, client development, and strategic direction.
What You'll Do
*
Lead and deliver complex Historic Preservation and adaptive reuse projects from planning through construction.
*
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, preservation boards, public agencies, universities, and institutional stakeholders.
*
Collaborate with firm leadership on the continued growth and evolution of the Historic Preservation practice.
*
Mentor and develop junior architects and emerging preservation professionals.
*
Support business development efforts, proposal pursuits, and client relationship management.
*
Guide preservation strategies, restoration approaches, and regulatory approvals for historically significant structures.
*
Contribute to long-term practice planning and market positioning.
What We're Looking For
*
10+ years of experience in Historic Preservation, restoration, adaptive reuse, or related architectural practice.
*
Professional degree in Architecture and licensure preferred.
*
Strong understanding of preservation standards, restoration methodologies, and regulatory processes.
*
Experience managing client relationships and leading project teams.
*
Interest in business development and growing a market sector.
*
Passion for preserving historic environments while helping shape their future use and relevance.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
Opportunities to inherit and help lead an established Historic Preservation practice are exceptionally rare. Rather than joining a team as another project architect, this role offers the chance to become part of a long-term succession strategy within one of the country's most respected preservation programs.
The firm has spent decades building a reputation in the preservation community and maintains strong relationships with universities, public agencies, cultural institutions, and private clients. The incoming leader will benefit from an existing project portfolio, established client base, and mentorship from firm leadership while gaining exposure to the business and strategic aspects of running a practice.
The organization is 100% employee-owned, creating a culture where employees share directly in the firm's success through profit sharing, ownership opportunities, and long-term wealth creation. For someone passionate about Historic Preservation and interested in expanding their influence beyond project delivery, this represents a unique opportunity to help shape both a practice and a legacy.
Principal, Higher Education National Lead Chicago, Illinois, United States
Principal, Higher Education Practice Lead
Remote | United States
A nationally recognized, employee-owned architecture and design firm is seeking a Principal-level leader to help shape the future of its Higher Education practice.
This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished higher education architect, planner, or practice leader to step into a highly visible national role with the autonomy, resources, and executive support needed to influence strategy, strengthen client relationships, and drive practice growth across the country.
The firm has an established presence in higher education, a strong portfolio of award-winning work, and longstanding relationships with colleges and universities nationwide. They are now looking for a strategic leader who can build upon that foundation and help guide the next chapter of growth.
What You'll Do
*
Lead and expand a national Higher Education practice serving colleges, universities, and academic institutions.
*
Develop and strengthen relationships with university leadership, facilities teams, and key stakeholders.
*
Drive business development efforts, identify new opportunities, and help shape long-term growth strategy.
*
Partner with firm leadership to establish practice goals, market positioning, and future direction.
*
Provide executive-level oversight on complex campus planning, academic, student life, research, and institutional projects.
*
Mentor and develop emerging leaders across the practice.
*
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients while representing the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations.
What We're Looking For
*
15+ years of experience within architecture, planning, or design leadership.
*
Strong background delivering Higher Education projects for colleges and universities.
*
Proven success building client relationships and generating new business opportunities.
*
Experience leading teams, studios, market sectors, or practice areas.
*
Strategic mindset with the ability to balance growth initiatives, client leadership, and project oversight.
*
Licensed Architect preferred but not required depending on experience.
*
Strong industry network and reputation within the Higher Education market.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
Unlike many leadership roles that focus solely on project delivery, this position offers the opportunity to shape an entire market sector. You'll have a direct voice in strategic decisions, influence national growth initiatives, and work alongside executive leadership to expand an already respected Higher Education practice.
The firm operates under a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) structure, creating a true ownership culture where employees directly benefit from the organization's long-term success. Leadership compensation is highly competitive and includes strong base salary, performance incentives, profit-sharing opportunities, and significant long-term wealth-building potential through employee ownership.
This is an ideal opportunity for a Principal, Vice President, Practice Leader, Studio Leader, or senior Higher Education professional looking to increase their influence, expand their leadership footprint, and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of a nationally recognized design practice.
