A well-established and growing commercial general contractor is seeking a Senior Estimator to join its Tampa-based preconstruction team.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced construction professional who enjoys working on complex commercial projects and wants to play a key role in both estimating and broader preconstruction strategy. The company has a strong pipeline of work throughout the Florida market and is continuing to expand across multiple sectors including healthcare, multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, industrial, and commercial construction.
The ideal candidate will bring strong conceptual estimating capabilities, technical construction knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with operations, ownership groups, and subcontractor partners throughout all phases of preconstruction.
Responsibilities
- Lead estimating efforts on ground-up and large renovation commercial construction projects
- Prepare conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs, and GMP pricing packages
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor/vendor proposals to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing
- Participate in value engineering and constructibility discussions during preconstruction
- Analyze drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documents to identify risks and opportunities
- Work closely with operations and project management teams to support seamless project turnover
- Assist in developing procurement and bid packaging strategies
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and clients throughout the Tampa market
- Support multiple pursuits simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and deadlines
Ideal Background
- 5+ years of estimating or preconstruction experience within commercial construction
- Experience estimating ground-up commercial projects within sectors such as healthcare, multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, industrial, office, or institutional construction
- Strong understanding of conceptual estimating, quantity takeoffs, and cost analysis
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings/specifications across all trades
- Experience working with estimating software and project management tools
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a collaborative mindset
