Project Architect/Architect II – K-12 School Experience | Winston-Salem, NC (Hybrid)

About the Role

An internationally recognized architecture and design firm is seeking a creative, collaborative, and experienced Architect II with a strong background in K-12 educational design to join its growing team in Winston-Salem, NC. This role is ideal for a licensed architect who is passionate about design excellence and has experience leading K-12 projects from concept through construction while mentoring team members and delivering high-quality technical solutions.

This is a hybrid position based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, design, and documentation of K-12 education projects from concept through construction
  • Lead technical design efforts for major project assignments, evaluating and recommending design solutions that meet client goals
  • Coordinate with consultants and project teams throughout all phases of design and construction
  • Independently develop and apply advanced architectural concepts and technical solutions
  • Perform code compliance reviews and ensure projects meet applicable regulations
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews to maintain high standards of design and documentation
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior architects and project staff
  • Support project planning, forecasting, staffing coordination, and overall project profitability
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver successful project outcomes
  • Travel as needed to support project and client requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) or Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) required
  • Licensed Architect with 6+ years of professional experience
  • Ideally K12 project experience (or if no K12 experience, a strong desire to work in this market) 
  • Strong experience delivering projects from schematic design through construction administration
  • Advanced knowledge of building codes, technical detailing, and construction documentation
  • Experience coordinating large, complex projects with multidisciplinary consultant teams
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD
  • Strong modeling skills using 3ds Max and SketchUp
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Experience using Newforma, E-Specs, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong conceptual design, visualization, presentation, and construction documentation skills
