Data Center Site Operations Manager

 

Opportunity

 

A rapidly growing developer and operator of next-generation, sustainable data centers is seeking a Data Center Site Operations Manager to lead operations at a mission-critical facility. This individual will serve as a key member of the North American operations leadership team, overseeing critical infrastructure, physical security, networking, and day-to-day site performance.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large-scale data center operations with responsibility for electrical and mechanical infrastructure, uptime, safety, vendor performance, and customer satisfaction. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring technical expertise, operational excellence, and the ability to lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of 24x7 mission-critical data center operations to achieve maximum uptime and compliance with customer service level agreements.
  • Manage the operation, maintenance, and repair of critical infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and network systems.
  • Oversee provisioning of colocation services, connectivity, rack deployments, power installations, and other customer support services.
  • Supervise site engineering personnel and ensure adherence to maintenance schedules, operating procedures, and safety standards.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve operating procedures, maintenance standards, and best practices.
  • Manage change control processes, including review and approval of MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs for planned maintenance and emergency events.
  • Manage relationships with maintenance contractors and service providers while ensuring performance, compliance, and quality standards are met.
  • Serve as the primary operational and technical point of contact for customers and lead communications during planned work and critical events.
  • Lead incident response activities including emergency coordination, customer communications, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor operational performance, identify trends, mitigate risks, and report key operational metrics to senior leadership.
  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets, forecasts, and expense reporting.
  • Support customer tours, technical due diligence, and lease reviews during the sales process.
  • Assist with industry certifications, audits, and accreditation initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 10+ years managing engineering or technical operations teams within mission-critical environments.
  • 5+ years of project or program management experience.
  • 5+ years working directly with internal and external customers to resolve operational issues.
  • 4+ years managing operational and capital budgets.
  • Demonstrated experience commissioning, accepting, and operating mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting colocation environments, including rack deployment, structured cabling, power distribution, and customer installations.
  • Experience operating within a formal change management environment.

  • Mission-critical electrical and mechanical systems
  • UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling infrastructure, and fire/life safety systems
  • Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM)
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Building and power monitoring systems
  • Change management (MOPs, SOPs, EOPs)
  • Root cause analysis and incident management
  • Vendor and contract management
  • Budget development and expense analysis
  • Microsoft Office 365
