Healthcare Project Architect / Project Manager | Remote (MUST be based in California)

About the Role

An established architecture and planning firm specializing in healthcare design is seeking an experienced Healthcare Project Architect / Project Manager to lead complex healthcare projects from planning through construction. This fully remote opportunity is available to candidates based in California and is ideal for a licensed architect with strong project management experience, technical expertise, and a passion for delivering high-quality healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead healthcare projects through all phases of design, documentation, and construction administration
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing, and client communications
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams to ensure seamless project delivery
  • Oversee technical design, construction documentation, and quality control processes
  • Ensure compliance with California building codes, healthcare regulations, and OSHPD/HCAI requirements
  • Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change documentation
  • Mentor and support project team members while promoting collaboration and professional development
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project planning efforts
  • Monitor project progress to ensure design intent, quality standards, and project goals are achieved

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) or Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) required
  • Licensed Architect required; California license strongly preferred
  • 8+ years of architectural experience, including significant healthcare project experience
  • Proven experience managing healthcare projects from programming through construction
  • Strong understanding of California healthcare codes, HCAI/OSHPD requirements, and construction administration
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and client management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a remote work environment
  • California residency required

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with project management and collaboration platforms
  • Strong construction documentation, technical detailing, and coordination skills
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and healthcare facility planning
