About the Role
A globally recognized engineering and design consultancy is seeking an experienced Healthcare Electrical Engineering Leader to drive the growth of its healthcare practice across the Western U.S. Based in San Francisco, this leadership role is ideal for a seasoned electrical engineer with extensive healthcare experience who excels at leading multidisciplinary teams, developing client relationships, and delivering complex healthcare projects from concept through completion.
This position combines technical leadership, project delivery, business development, and team mentorship while helping shape the future of healthcare infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary healthcare projects from planning through construction
- Serve as Engineer of Record and provide technical leadership on electrical system design
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, quality, and overall project performance
- Develop and maintain long-term client relationships while supporting business development efforts
- Prepare proposals, presentations, and strategic pursuits for new healthcare opportunities
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and clients to deliver innovative healthcare solutions
- Oversee QA/QC processes and ensure compliance with applicable healthcare codes and industry standards
- Lead commercial aspects of projects, including contract management, financial performance, and scope negotiations
- Mentor and develop engineering staff while supporting recruitment, career growth, and leadership development
- Foster a collaborative culture focused on technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering required
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
- 15+ years of experience designing electrical systems for healthcare facilities
- 8+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary healthcare engineering projects
- Proven experience with Central Plant Design and Acute Care Renovation projects
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare electrical systems, applicable building codes, and regulatory requirements
- Strong business development, client relationship management, and project leadership experience
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
- Passion for sustainable design and delivering innovative healthcare environments
Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of healthcare electrical system design and power distribution
- Expertise in healthcare building codes, electrical codes, and regulatory compliance
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on large, complex projects
- Strong project management, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management capabilities
- Proficiency with industry-standard electrical design and engineering software
- Experience implementing QA/QC procedures and engineering best practices
