Harper Harrison is proud to be partnering with a market-leading environmental engineering consultancy to recruit an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Specialist I. This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-driven controls professional to join a high-impact team delivering innovative water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the U.S.
You will play a hands-on role in the design, programming, and commissioning of sophisticated control systems. Your work will contribute directly to public infrastructure and environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and program PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for water and wastewater facilities
Use AutoCAD to produce instrument control loops, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and installation details
Prepare specifications and write detailed control system descriptions
Conduct system startup and commissioning with minimal supervision
Design and implement communication networks such as Ethernet LAN and wireless radio systems
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients throughout the project lifecycle
Create instrument material take-offs from engineering drawings
About You
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Minimum of 2 years' experience in I&C design and PLC/SCADA programming
Proficient in interpreting and producing P&IDs, loop diagrams, and cabinet wiring drawings
Hands-on experience with a variety of PLCs and SCADA/HMI platforms
Comfortable working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Strong communication skills and confidence in client-facing environments
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
