Senior Project Architect - Core & Shell

Location: Houston, TX | Full-Time | Architecture & Design Sector

A leading architecture firm is seeking a Senior Project Architect to provide technical leadership and documentation coordination on large, complex projects, with a focus on multi-story research and clinical healthcare buildings. This role requires strong expertise in technical design, project delivery, and team leadership, while promoting design excellence, sustainability, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical development of projects from schematic design through construction.
  • Direct the production of design drawings, construction documents, and specifications.
  • Review shop drawings, material samples, and CDs for compliance with design intent.
  • Oversee construction administration activities, including RFIs, RFPs, and change orders.
  • Coordinate and integrate engineering systems with architectural design.
  • Conduct field observations to monitor construction progress and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, accessibility standards, zoning, and life-safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers to establish project budgets, schedules, and work plans.
  • Manage scope, schedule, and cost compliance across all phases of project delivery.
  • Maintain strong client, consultant, and contractor relationships.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts, including client presentations and project pursuits.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of architectural experience.
  • Advanced expertise in design, construction documentation, and building systems.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, specifications, and engineering systems.
  • Experience with project management processes and software.
  • Proficiency with Revit (basic knowledge required).
  • Licensed Architect (required).
  • LEED AP accreditation, or ability to achieve within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor staff and lead teams effectively.
