Medical Planner
Location: Coral Gables, FL | Full-Time | Architecture & Design Sector
A nationally recognized architecture and design firm is seeking a Medical Planner to join its growing Healthcare team in South Florida. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, technically skilled, and design-oriented professional with 5+ years of experience in medical planning and healthcare design. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of healthcare operations, space planning, and design principles, as well as a collaborative, proactive approach to project work.

Candidates with a blend of medical planning expertise and either interior design or architectural documentation skills will thrive in this dynamic role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in all aspects of the design process, contributing to master planning, programming, and schematic design for healthcare projects.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure design quality, client satisfaction, technical accuracy, and adherence to budget and timeline.
- Assist clients in defining project goals and space requirements through user engagement, programming, and functional planning.
- Develop room and departmental layouts; support system and material selection during early design phases.
- Prepare design alternatives based on the client's long-range planning objectives.
- Support schematic and design development phases, including documentation and consultant coordination.
- Collect and analyze data through interviews, surveys, user workshops, and post-occupancy evaluations.
- Evaluate existing facility conditions to inform renovation, expansion, or replacement strategies.
- Contribute to construction document coordination, ensuring inclusion of medical program requirements.
- Participate in internal design reviews, charrettes, and pin-ups, and support marketing efforts including proposal development and client interviews.
- Review team work for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project and firm standards.
- Provide mentorship to junior staff and foster a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
- Professional degree in Architecture or a related field (required)
- Architectural or Interior Design licensure strongly preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare design and medical planning
- LEED Green Associate required within 6 months of hire
- Additional credentials in Living Design principles encouraged (e.g., LEED AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, CPHC, Living Future Accreditation, etc.)
- Knowledge of LEAN design concepts, OSHPD (OSHPD-1/3), and Certificate of Need (where applicable)
- Strong understanding of functional planning, healthcare codes, clinical workflows, and healthcare construction methods
- BIM / Revit (Advanced)
- Familiarity with field measurements, construction techniques, and construction contract administration
