Senior Project Architect – Healthcare

Location: Sacramento, CA | Full-Time | AEC - Architecture & Design Sector

A medium-sized California based Architecture firm is seeking a Senior Project Architect to join their Healthcare team. This role requires strong client and team management, technical coordination skills, the ability to manage complex projects, proven leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of Healthcare projects. The firm prides themselves on their strong company culture and prides themselves on keeping the small firm feel despite having 4 offices and 170+ employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all phases of project coordination, ensuring alignment between client goals, team performance, and project documentation across programming, design, and scheduling.
  • Serve as the primary liaison among clients, project teams, consultants, contractors, and vendors to maintain clear, consistent communication throughout all stages of design and construction.
  • Provide technical leadership and develop creative, practical solutions to complex design and construction challenges.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and relationship management abilities to guide teams and uphold quality standards.
  • Apply a deep understanding of building design and construction processes to produce precise, well-documented technical drawings and specifications.
  • Manage and execute projects through a variety of delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Design-Assist, IPD, and IFOA.
  • Take initiative and ownership of tasks with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Cultivate and maintain lasting client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand the firm’s network and portfolio.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written form, with clarity, professionalism, and confidence.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience as a Technical Project Architect, with a strong background in healthcare and interior architecture projects.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field required; professional architectural licensure preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Comprehensive understanding of building codes, standards, construction methods, and structural systems.
  • Proven experience developing project manuals and technical specifications.
  • Skilled in conducting on-site observations, documenting field reports, and overseeing construction administration activities.
  • Experienced in managing submittals, RFIs, and substitution requests throughout the construction process.
  • Familiarity with building and permitting processes, including direct interaction with regulatory and code officials.
  • OSHPD/HCAI project experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD required; additional experience with Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and Microsoft Office strongly desired.
  • Professional certifications such as ACHA, DBIA, EDAC, LCI, WELL, or LEED accreditation are a plus.
