Senior Technical Architect - Healthcare

 

Location: New York City | Full-Time | AEC - Architecture & Design Sector

 

An award-winning architecture, planning, and design firm is seeking a Senior Project Architect to join its growing Healthcare team in their NYC office. This position offers the opportunity to lead complex, high-profile projects from concept through construction while working in a collaborative, flexible, and creative environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all phases of a project, demonstrating technical expertise across a range of scales and complexities.
  • Lead and supervise teams of varying sizes, delegating and coordinating work while reviewing and approving deliverables from internal staff and external consultants.
  • Conduct final reviews and approvals for code analysis, material selections, and specifications.
  • Oversee construction document production and BIM model management.
  • Participate in client meetings and serve as a primary point of contact with clients and consultants.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers to ensure projects are executed according to established workplans, recommending adjustments to staffing or scheduling as needed.
  • Maintain accountability for project scope, technical execution, and efficiency of the project team.
  • Champion design excellence and inspire teams to maintain design integrity throughout all phases.
  • Implement best practices to improve documentation quality and reduce project risk, mentoring junior staff in these standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
  • Architectural licensure (or active pursuit of registration).
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in Healthcare, Science & Technology, and/or Higher Education sectors.
  • Proven experience leading the design, documentation, and construction administration process.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment in decision-making.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit; familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and SketchUp preferred.
