Mid Level Electrical Engineer - Private Sector Projects

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in power systems design for water and wastewater treatment facilities. This is a remote position, open to candidates located on the West Coast to align with client and project team schedules.

The successful candidate will take the lead on detailed electrical design efforts, perform system analyses, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and reliable infrastructure solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical power systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Perform load calculations, conduit routing, and detailed design of motor control centers and switchgear.
  • Prepare electrical specifications and construction documents.
  • Conduct power system studies, including short-circuit current, voltage drop, harmonic distortion, and power factor analysis.
  • Support field investigations, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Coordinate with internal and external project teams to ensure technical quality and compliance with codes and standards.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–10 years of experience in electrical design or engineering.
  • Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 820, and NESC.
  • Familiarity with the IEEE Color Book series.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects remotely.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Field or start-up experience in industrial or municipal electrical systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain upon hire.
