Responsibilities

Requirements

The Opportunity
Harper Harrison is supporting a leading global data center owner and operator with the appointment of multiple Critical Facilities Technicians for a major new hyperscale campus south of Dallas.
This is a rare opportunity to join a completely new data center campus before it becomes operational. The company is building its initial Operations and Maintenance team now, ahead of the planned go-live date later this year.
Successful candidates will help take the campus through its transition into live operations, develop a detailed understanding of the infrastructure and establish the operational standards that future technicians will follow.
The wider development includes multiple planned data center facilities, with further construction expected to begin next year. As additional capacity comes online, the Operations team will continue to grow, creating long-term opportunities to progress into Lead Technician, Supervisor and broader technical leadership positions.

The Role
The Critical Facilities Technician will be responsible for the safe, reliable and continuous operation of the campus’s critical electrical, mechanical and cooling infrastructure.
You will work across complex, interconnected systems that may include MV and LV switchgear, UPS systems, generators, electrical distribution, chillers, chilled-water systems, pumps, air-handling equipment, VFDs, fire and life-safety systems, BMS and EPMS platforms.
The position requires someone who understands how individual assets interact across the wider critical environment and how maintenance, switching or equipment failures can affect system redundancy and the critical load.
Responsibilities will include:
* Operating, monitoring and troubleshooting critical electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems
* Responding to alarms, abnormal conditions and equipment failures
* Protecting the critical load during planned maintenance and unexpected incidents
* Performing or coordinating critical switching, isolations and lockout/tagout activities
* Executing preventive and corrective maintenance through the CMMS

Level III
The Level III position is suited to an established data center technician who can independently operate, maintain and troubleshoot critical infrastructure.
You should be comfortable responding to alarms, coordinating maintenance, working through technical procedures and making sound decisions in a live critical environment. You will be expected to understand the impact of your work on redundancy, system availability and customer operations.
Level IV
The Level IV position is the senior technical level and is generally aimed at candidates with eight or more years of relevant experience.
Alongside remaining hands-on, you will act as an experienced technical resource for the wider team. You will support complex switching activities, respond to higher-level incidents, contribute to root-cause investigations and help guide junior technicians joining the campus.
You will be expected to challenge unsafe or technically incorrect decisions, understand the wider impact of maintenance activities and remain composed when responding to critical events.
Level IV candidates can earn up to $58 per hour, equivalent to approximately $120,000 annually before the upfront sign-on bonus.
Training and Campus Launch
Candidates joining before the campus goes live will be fully employed and paid throughout the onboarding and training period.
Training will begin with time at the new campus, followed by hands-on experience at established data center facilities across Dallas-Fort Worth. This will allow the incoming team to learn the company’s operating standards, maintenance processes, safety expectations and approach to critical incidents before assuming responsibility for the new site.
Mileage for assigned training travel will be reimbursed. Hotel accommodation can also be arranged when an overnight stay is required.
Joining during this period provides valuable exposure to the final stages of campus readiness and the transition from construction and commissioning into live operations.
Location and Relocation
The permanent work location is near Whitney, south of Dallas and approximately 35 miles north of Waco.
The area offers a lower cost of living, more accessible housing and considerably more space than the established data center markets around central and northern Dallas. It also provides access to the outdoor lifestyle surrounding Lake Whitney while remaining connected to Waco and the wider DFW region.
The company is providing substantial support to make relocation straightforward. The package includes relocation coverage, an upfront sign-on bonus and company-paid temporary accommodation available until 2027.

Schedule
The position operates on a Panama-style 2-2-3 schedule using 12-hour shifts.
