This June, the digital infrastructure world gathered once again in Cannes for the 20th anniversary of the DataCloud Global Congress. Known as one of the most influential events in the sector, DataCloud brings together thought leaders from cloud, AI, data centres, and investment to connect, collaborate, and share insight over three packed days.
Representing the sector this year were Jason Moore, Head of UK & Europe – Digital Infrastructure, and Charlie Sykes, Lead Consultant who took the opportunity to reconnect with partners and forge new relationships.
A Bigger, Better, Busier DataCloud Than Ever Before
The 2025 event set a new standard. “It was bigger and better than last year,” Jason reflected. “From the moment we stepped out of our hotel, we could feel the buzz, the streets, cafés, bars, and restaurants were full of familiar faces for us to catch up with.”
And the energy was backed by the numbers. “I have just read an article that says attendance was up by a HUGE 49% on last year – so my experience, this year was bigger and better than any before!”
This surge in attendance reflects DataCloud’s growing influence as the go-to global event for digital infrastructure professionals.
Real Conversations, Real Connections
One of Jason’s most memorable moments came from an informal drink that turned into something much more dynamic. “I can’t say who was involved in the chat, but one planned meeting for a drink and catch up turned into a mini event with us all crossing paths with contacts, who we introduced to each other. Everyone had fascinating conversations going on around us.”
It’s these spontaneous, high-value interactions that make DataCloud such a valuable gathering. “The whole industry is there, and everyone wants to see growth and success, so the support and insight being offered is hugely valuable, and it was great to be a part of those conversations.”
A Critical Conversation: The Talent Challenge
While much of the discourse focused on power availability, rack sizing, and land access, Jason pointed to a challenge not being discussed enough: talent. Attracting new talent, particularly those still in education or with transferable skills, remains vital. As the digital infrastructure sector scales rapidly, the need for skilled professionals, from engineering to project management, is greater than ever. “I don’t deny that conversations now should focus on improving power, land availability and rack sizes, but closing the skills gap is vital!”
In One Word: Unmissable
Asked to sum up his DataCloud experience, Jason didn’t hesitate: “Unmissable.” For anyone serious about the future of digital infrastructure, this is an event that cannot be missed. One clear message stood out from the conversations: the industry’s future depends not just on technology, but on people.
