MEP Specialist / Sustainability & Decarbonization Consultant Role

Harper Harrison are proud to be supporting a major New York City public agency in their mission to drive decarbonization across affordable housing and the built environment.
We are seeking two full-time, Hybrid (office and remote) consultants for 24-month staff augmentation roles, focused on helping scale low-carbon projects citywide - in the multifamily housing sector.
The Role
As part of the agency’s Building & Land Development Services team, you will:
- Review and provide technical oversight on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for new and rehabilitated multifamily buildings.
- Ensure compliance with NYC energy and climate codes while promoting decarbonization and electrification best practices.
- Collaborate across internal teams and external stakeholders to advance sustainable building solutions.
- Contribute to the development of resources, policies, and training that strengthen the city’s capacity for low-carbon housing.
Preferred Background:
We’re looking for professionals with:
- A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, with hands-on experience in electrification and decarbonization projects.
- Familiarity with NYC building codes, sustainability standards (e.g., Enterprise Green Communities, ASHRAE), and affordable housing regulations.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
