Senior / Lead Transmission Engineer
Location: Various (Philadelphia, Denver, Kansas City, Minneapolis)
About the Role
The Senior / Lead Transmission Engineer will take a leading role in the design and delivery of high-voltage transmission line projects (69 kV–500 kV). You’ll manage technical execution, coordinate project teams, and serve as a key point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer ready to move into a leadership role.
Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership:
Lead design efforts for multiple overhead transmission line projects, ensuring technical quality, budget adherence, and timely delivery. -
Technical Design:
Develop and review line designs, plan & profile drawings, and structure loading calculations using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and related tools. -
Quality & Compliance:
Ensure all deliverables meet NESC, ASCE, and client standards. Conduct quality reviews and coordinate design packages through internal QA/QC. -
Mentorship & Support:
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers; assist in training new staff on software tools, standards, and best practices. -
Coordination & Collaboration:
Work closely with civil, structural, and substation teams to integrate designs and maintain alignment across disciplines. -
Client Interface:
Support project managers in client meetings, progress reviews, and proposal development; serve as a technical representative for assigned projects.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).

5–10 years of experience in high-voltage transmission line design (consulting or EPC environment).

Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and AutoCAD required.

Solid understanding of NESC, ASCE 10, and related design standards.

Experience managing small project teams or serving as technical lead.

EIT required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience

Design experience with 69 kV–500 kV overhead lines.

Familiarity with EPC delivery models, foundation design, or line siting studies.

Experience coordinating with utilities, EPCs, or regulatory bodies.

Exposure to renewable interconnections, grid hardening, or modernization programs.
