An opportunity is available for an experienced Structural Engineer to lead bridge design projects across a range of transportation infrastructure programmes. This position will focus on delivering high-quality structural analysis, design and final construction plans for concrete and steel bridge structures.
The role can be based in multiple office locations across the Southeast, with flexibility depending on project needs.
You will take ownership of bridge design activities from concept through final plan production, ensuring designs meet applicable state and national standards. This includes developing structural models, preparing calculations, reviewing quantities and ensuring constructability, safety and cost-efficiency throughout the design lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading structural analysis and design for prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete and structural steel bridges
• Producing and reviewing detailed bridge plans in accordance with applicable DOT and AASHTO criteria
• Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated project delivery
• Reviewing calculations and technical documents for accuracy and compliance
• Supporting proposal development and participating in client meetings
• Collaborating with agency reviewers to address technical comments
• Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers
• Supporting business development and representing the team at industry events
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or related Engineering discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) licence required
• 12+ years of bridge design experience
• Strong experience producing final bridge construction plans
• Knowledge of applicable transportation design standards and specifications
• Ability to lead technical teams and manage project deliverables
• Willingness to travel as required based on project demands
Preferred:
• Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering

You will manage capital investments valued at approximately $2 million, developing detailed project definitions, securing internal funding approvals and coordinating design activities across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines.
