About the Opportunity: A respected, award-winning architecture firm is seeking a Principal Architect to lead and grow its Civic practice. This mid-sized, design-driven firm is known for delivering meaningful public projects that strengthen communities, including police stations, fire stations, municipal buildings, justice facilities, and community spaces You will play a key role in shaping projects, mentoring teams, and contributing to the strategic direction and growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Principal-in-Charge for Civic, Justice, and Public Safety projects including Police, Fire, EMS/Dispatch, Justice, and Municipal facilities
  • Lead multiple projects through all phases, including planning, design, documentation, and construction administration
  • Manage client relationships and ensure project success across quality, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction
  • Prepare and negotiate proposals, contracts, and consultant agreements
  • Oversee internal teams, staffing, schedules, and project execution
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level staff
  • Support business development efforts, including RFQs/RFPs, networking, and client engagement
  • Contribute to long-term strategic growth and thought leadership within the civic practice

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch required)
  • Licensed Architect required
  • 10+ years of experience leading Civic, Public Safety, Justice, or Municipal projects
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects in the $5M–$50M+ range, preferably in New England
  • Strong client leadership, project management, and team leadership skills
  • Experience with public procurement processes and municipal clients preferred
  • Commitment to design excellence, collaboration, and community-focused work
  • Ability to travel periodically to project and office locations
