Interiors Director
Location: Chicago or New York
A nationally recognized, design-driven architecture and urbanism practice is seeking an experienced and visionary Interiors Director to lead its interiors practice from either its Chicago or New York office. The ideal candidate is a creative and collaborative design leader who thrives in a holistic, integrated design environment where architecture and interiors are conceived in tandem.
This leadership role offers the opportunity to significantly influence the firm's design direction and impact across a wide range of project types. The Interiors Director will play a central role in shaping design excellence, fostering innovation, and advancing the firm's interior architecture practice both strategically and creatively.
Key Responsibilities
Lead firmwide interiors design efforts, ensuring high standards of creativity, quality, and innovation
Develop tailored design solutions unique to each project's context and program
Mentor and guide the interiors team while promoting a culture of collaboration and design excellence
Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with clients and project partners
Collaborate on the development of a sustainable financial model for the interiors practice
Oversee FF&E strategy and execution across multiple projects, including budgeting, planning, vendor coordination, procurement, and project close-out
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of experience in interiors or architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Strong design sensibility and a portfolio of outstanding built work
Demonstrated ability to develop innovative material and detailing solutions
Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling abilities
Proficient in guiding projects from concept through execution
Skilled in design management and knowledgeable about technical documentation
Passion for material research, craft, and sustainability
