Senior Project Architect - Sports, Recreation & Entertainment

A nationally recognized architecture and design firm is seeking a Senior Project Architect with 10-15+ years of experience to join its growing Kansas City studio. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned architect with a passion for leading design efforts across all project phases-from early concept through construction-on dynamic sports, recreation, and entertainment venues.

Key Responsibilities
Lead all design phases with technical excellence, design sensitivity, and project delivery expertise.
Collaborate closely with firm leadership, clients, and consultants to guide projects to successful outcomes.
Oversee the development of high-quality documentation and ensure alignment with design intent, code compliance, and constructability.
Manage consultant coordination and internal discipline integration (architecture, interiors, landscape).
Conduct quality control and assurance reviews at all project phases.
Lead and support construction contract administration.
Guide regulatory and permitting processes including zoning, code, and accessibility reviews.
Participate in project pursuits, proposals, interviews, and design charettes.
Mentor junior team members and contribute to a studio culture of creativity and growth.
Qualifications
Professional degree in architecture or a related discipline.
Licensed Architect.
10-15+ years of professional experience, with significant work in Sports, Recreation, and Entertainment design.
Proficiency in Revit, Rhino (Grasshopper), Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering tools such as Enscape or Lumion.
Skilled in client communication, team leadership, technical detailing, and consultant coordination.
Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, site planning, and contract documentation.
LEED GA (or ability to earn within 6 months); additional sustainability credentials a plus (LEED AP, WELL AP, Passive House, etc.).
