A nationally recognized engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Team Director to lead its Water Resources practice across its Texas offices. About the Role
As Team Director, you will oversee a team of engineers and scientists delivering complex, high-impact water resources projects across Texas and the surrounding region. This position blends technical oversight, staff development, business development, and client engagement-making it ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering excellence and strategic leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, design, and execution of diverse water resources projects, including stream and ecosystem restoration, floodplain mapping, stormwater infrastructure, dam safety evaluations, watershed studies, and green infrastructure implementation.
Manage a multidisciplinary team by providing mentorship, performance feedback, career development guidance, and technical leadership.
Serve as a trusted advisor to public and private clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring responsive, high-quality service delivery.
Collaborate across internal disciplines and external stakeholders to ensure cohesive, integrated solutions that meet environmental, regulatory, and engineering objectives.
Oversee project schedules, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring successful outcomes and client satisfaction.
Lead or support business development activities including identifying new opportunities, writing proposals, and participating in interviews and presentations.
Contribute to the strategic growth and visibility of the water resources practice throughout the state and region.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering (Master's preferred)
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or the ability to obtain within a reasonable time
At least 12 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering, with a strong track record of technical delivery and team leadership
Experience managing projects that address hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, regulatory permitting, environmental restoration, and infrastructure resilience
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Demonstrated success in client development and project acquisition
